How we build a putting green.
Dug out and based.
The old lawn and soil come out, and a compacted gravel base goes in. The base is what keeps a green smooth for years.
Shaped to suit the yard.
We shape the green to fit the space, from a strip along the fence to the middle of the yard.
Laid and secured.
The putting turf is cut to fit, joined and secured along the edges, so it stays flat.
Finished with the rest of the yard.

Putting greens in Windsor: what to know.
A green is a small job with a lot riding on what's underneath it.
How big should it be?
Think about how you'll use it. A strip along a fence gives you straight putts. A bigger green gives you more lines and room for more than one hole.
Why the base matters
Windsor clay holds water and moves with the frost. A compacted gravel base keeps the surface flat and gives water somewhere to drain.
Putting turf isn't lawn turf
Putting turf has short, dense blades, so the ball rolls. Regular turf is longer and softer, which suits the rest of the yard.
Winter
The green stays in place through the winter. Snow melts and drains through it. If you clear it, use a plastic shovel, not a metal one.
Upkeep
Brush off leaves and rinse it now and then. There's no mowing, watering or fertilizer.

Yes. Greens often go in with turf, a patio or a pool deck, all on one quote and one schedule.
Does a putting green need water?
No. There's no watering, mowing or fertilizer. Brush it off and rinse it now and then.
